Executive Functioning and its Manifestation in Behavior
Learn how to identify, target and reduce behaviors that inhibit learning and cause disruption in the classroom. This seminar is two-fold. It discusses what executive functioning is, processes and tools that can be used to encourage organized thoughts and behaviors that can be indicative of an issue with executive functioning.
Teachers will leave this seminar with a better understanding of behaviors in their classroom, the roots of the behavior and a tool-box filled with strategies and concrete tools to use to better support their students.

Supporting the Anxious Child
Anxiety disorders affect one in eight children. Research shows that untreated children with anxiety disorders are at higher risk to perform poorly in school, miss out on important social experiences, and engage in substance abuse.
In this seminar, you will begin to understand anxiety disorders and learn ways to support children in building coping skills including CBT Detective Thinking.

Recognizing Red Flags and Knowing How to Intervene
In any given year, only 20 percent of children with mental disorders are identified and receive mental health services (US Public Health Service). Through appropriate identification, evaluation, and treatment, children and adolescents living with mental illness can lead happy and productive lives.
Nonetheless, the overwhelming majority of children with mental disorders fail to be identified, thus have a lower quality of life. In this seminar you will understand risk factors for maltreatment, signs of distress, and characteristics of mental health disorders as well as discuss methods for intervening at both the child and adult levels in an effort to support children and families in gaining access to intervention services.
